Thousands of students excited about this year’s Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics T.V Quiz Show, have heeded the instruction to visit the website, www.cowbellpedia.ng and register free for the competition. cowbellpedia.This was disclosed by officials in charge of the registration portal who said thousands of entries have been processed from students and schools. Festus Tettey, Head of Marketing, Promasidor Nigeria Limited explained that this year’s competition would be in two stages: Qualifying Written Examination and TV Quiz Show. The National Examination Council, NECO, will conduct the Stage One examination to be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
This year’s edition is in partnership with NECO to widen the reach to participants across the country. Tettey added that the Stage One of the competition is open to students from 10-18 years of age attending full time secondary school in both public and private schools, and entry is free. Each school is required to present their best 10 students in Mathematics (five each from JSS3 and SSS2), irrespective of sex, religion, tribe or state of origin. MD, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olivier Thiry acknowledged the support of NECO, state ministries of education, school principals and teachers, the press and other agency partners for their continued support for the initiative over the years.
Thiry added that the prize money for the finals for both students and teachers has been increased. The top prize student winner in each category will go home with N1 million, a medal, a trophy and an all-expense paid vacation, while the teacher will be awarded N400,00.
