Week 10 as it happened.
Danny Mac scored the first 40-point samba in Strictly history, Louise Redknapp
tied with Danny at top of leaderboard after winning Cha Cha Challenge,
while Ed Balls was cut adrift at bottom. And so it proved - there were
emotional scenes as Ed Balls was eliminated form the competition, missing out on the quarter final. Judge Rinder defeated Balls in dance-off but his days also look numbered.
Blackpool week as it happened
Viewers clearly enjoyed Ed Balls's
Great Balls of Fire, as the former shadow chancellor survived another
week, despite finding himself at the bottom of the leaderboard yet again
on Saturday night. Meanwhile, long-jumper Greg Rutherford was told to go take a running jump, after the public vote saw him pitted against fellow Olympian Claudia Fragapane in
the dance-off. The weekend's special musical guests were Simple Minds,
who won over the crowd with 1985 hit Don't You (Forget About Me), and
Rick Astley, who disappointed with his new single Dance.

Week eight as it happened
We said farewell to fashion model Daisy Lowe, along with her popular partner, smiley Slovenian pro Alijaz Skorjanec. After two previous appearances in the dance-off, Daisy was bookies' favourite for elimination and so it proved.
Her retro routine to Deee-Lite's Groove is in the Heart was heaps of fun but more disco than salsa. Daisy has been hugely likeable but clearly hasn't got a fanbase as big as her rival contestants. She has danced with leggy grace, hip-shaking style and an infectious smile on her face, never scoring below 30, so can count herself unlucky. In years when the field hasn't been of such a high standard, Daisy would have lasted at least another fortnight.
Meanwhile, Ed Balls is off to Blackpool because of this extraordinary routine....
