Multi-hyphenate media mogul Tyler Perry has shattered real estate records with the sale of his 17-acre Atlanta estate.
The seven-bedroom, 14-bathroom home, which originally listed for $25 million, was purchased for $17.5 million, making it the most expensive property transaction in the city’s history.
The mansion, which we previously featured as a Listing of the Day, is equipped with extravagant entertainment amenities including a music room, a home theater, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar and a 9,500-square-foot ballroom.

Perry, who is 46, is reportedly worth over $400 million. His name is such box-office gold that he puts it into the titles of the movies he directs. Here are a few of his most successful films, and how much they made: Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail ($90.5 million), Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection ($65.7 million) and Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion ($63.3 million). He also acted in the movie Gone Girl, which grossed almost $168 million.
The property was reportedly last purchased in 2005 for $9 million.
