The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Friday that the 69-year-old had previously threatened to kill his son, who was listed as 29 years old, because he is gay.
A detective said that the elder Issa told police his son had a knife, though no such weapon was found at the house.

A detective said that the elder Issa told police his son had a knife, though no such weapon was found at the house.

A Los Angeles Police spokesman told the Daily News Saturday that the victim was actually 38, the same age as an Amier Issa who previously had legal trouble in San Diego for slashing his ex-boyfriend’s face with a knife in 2008.
Detective John Doerbecker told the Los Angeles Daily News that the elder Issa had claimed his son had a knife, though no such weapon was found at the house.
Amir Issa's body was found outside the family's Los Angeles home, and his mother's was found with stab wounds inside.

He added the family’s problems had resulted in the parents were in the process of kicking their son out before Tuesday’s “horrible family tragedy.”
Amir Issa had chronicled his frustration with his parents on his Facebook page, saying that they were trying to control him.
Amir Issa wrote about his frustrations with his family on Facebook, including sharing a video where he and his parents argue about him being gay.

Amir Issa wrote about his frustrations with his family on Facebook, including sharing a video where he and his parents argue about him being gay.

He said that they “lied to courts and doctor to try and label me as mentally ill and failed in their attempts to have me falsely imprisoned and evicted.”
Issa added, “I want to see Jesus. Please help rid this world of the demons that attack me,” and said that he had directed his life insurance money to go to the Seventh-day Adventist church.
His page also included a video where he speaks with two people he says are his parents and argues with them about his sexuality, demanding to know if they had ever had anal sex.
At points during the video his presumed father calls him a pervert and says he should be castrated.
Los Angeles County jail records indicate Shehada Khalil Issa is currently in custody pending a $2,000,000 bail.
